Fill Up The Spiritual Gas Tank

feature photo

Jesus Himself set the example for us to follow regarding attending church. The Bible tells us that it was His habit to attend services in the house of God.

Luke 4:16 (AMP)

16So He came to Nazareth, [that Nazareth] where He had been brought up, and He entered the synagogue, as was His custom on the Sabbath day. And He stood up to read.

The Bible also tells us not to abandon the assembling of ourselves together.

Hebrews 10:25 (AMP)

25Not forsaking or neglecting to assemble together [as believers], as is the habit of some people, but admonishing (warning, urging, and encouraging) one another, and all the more faithfully as you see the day approaching.

Why is God concerned about our attending church? One simple reason, we go to church to hear the Word because it is the Word that produces faith.

Romans 10:17 (AMP)

17So faith comes by hearing [what is told], and what is heard comes by the preaching [of the message that came from the lips] of Christ (the Messiah Himself).

That being said, the church is not a parking lot, it is a filling station. It is where we go to get our spiritual gas tanks filled with the Word so we can go out and bless others.

We do not take our car to the gas station, drive it home, park it in the garage and never drive it. No, we use the freedom and independence driving gives us to do and take care of things in our daily lives.

In the same way, when we get our spiritual gas tanks filled up with the Word of God in church, we are empowered to go out and share our faith.

The Christian life is not about how often we go to church. It is about what we do after we leave the church building. Both of which are between us and God. Not us and the minister or congregation.

To summarize, time spent in God’s house fellowshipping with other believers gives us the power we need to share Jesus with others as well as successfully live out our faith throughout the week.

God Bless!
