Giving The Way God Gives
God is not a taker. He is a giver. He has been, is and always will be. One of the most familiar passages in the Bible bears this out:
16For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He [even] gave up His only begotten (unique) Son, so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him shall not perish (come to destruction, be lost) but have eternal (everlasting) life.
17For God did not send the Son into the world in order to judge (to reject, to condemn, to pass sentence on) the world, but that the world might find salvation and be made safe and sound through Him.
God gave His very best that we might be saved. He did not withhold anything. He gave His Son. He gave us His Word, His kingdom, His everything.
It is God’s nature to give, and to give His very best. It is our place is to receive.
How do we receive? We receive by giving. Receiving comes from giving, not taking. Jesus spoke of this in the following scripture.
35In everything I have pointed out to you [by example] that, by working diligently in this manner, we ought to assist the weak, being mindful of the words of the Lord Jesus, how He Himself said, It is more blessed (makes one happier and more to be envied) to give than to receive.
Why did He say that? I believe it is because giving puts receiving into motion.
Moreover, we are called to give as God does. When we begin to give out of God’s concept of giving, we will give all the time. Our entire lives will be built around giving.
We will give ourselves to God. We will give ourselves to our families. We will give ourselves to everyone. Furthermore, we will give when times are good, when times are bad, when we have something to give and even when we do not.
We will constantly give using our faith, prayers, knowledge, time (whatever we have) to improve the lives of others as well as prosper and further God’s kingdom.
We will give God’s way according to what Jesus said in the following.
25For whoever is bent on saving his [temporal] life [his comfort and security here] shall lose it [eternal life]; and whoever loses his life [his comfort and security here] for My sake shall find it [life everlasting].
26For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his life [his blessed life in the kingdom of God]? Or what would a man give as an exchange for his [blessed] life [in the kingdom of God]?
27For the Son of Man is going to come in the glory (majesty, splendor) of His Father with His angels, and then He will render account and reward every man in accordance with what he has done.
To summarize, when we give as God gives, giving our best in all that we do, we will find everything we ever hoped to have.
God Bless!
