God’s Voice
I believe the only way we will be able to stand against the onslaughts of the devil that are coming against us today is by being able to hear and obey God’s voice. We were and are made to hear our Heavenly Father’s voice.
35To you it was shown, that you might realize and have personal knowledge that the Lord is God; there is no other besides Him.
36Out of heaven He made you hear His voice, that He might correct, discipline, and admonish you; and on earth He made you see His great fire, and you heard His words out of the midst of the fire.
Similarly, in the natural world, children recognize the voice of their mother so she can instruct, correct and encourage them.
Moreover, we easily recognize the voices of our parents, children and friends. If they call on the phone, we do not have to ask them to identify themselves. We know the sound of their voices because they are familiar to us.
This is the same familiarity our Heavenly Father wants us to experience when He speaks to us. Jesus spoke of this in the following passage.
27The sheep that are My own hear and are listening to My voice; and I know them, and they follow Me.
God is not silent. He is speaking all the time in many ways — in a song, in a word from someone, in that still, small voice inside of us. However, we must have a listening heart. We have to tune our ears and our spirits to hear from Him through His Word.
14For God [does reveal His will; He] speaks not only once, but more than once, even though men do not regard it [including you, Job].
15[One may hear God's voice] in a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls on men while slumbering upon the bed.
19[God's voice may be heard by man when] he is chastened with pain upon his bed and with continual strife in his bones or while all his bones are firmly set.
23[God's voice may be heard] if there is for the hearer a messenger or an angel, an interpreter, one among a thousand, to show to man what is right for him [how to be upright and in right standing with God].
God speaks clearly, not in vague impressions, but in specific details. Want some evidence to back that up? Read in Genesis 6 when God spoke to Noah about building the ark. He gave Noah specific instructions about every aspect needed to successfully complete the job.
14Make yourself an ark of gopher or cypress wood; make in it rooms (stalls, pens, coops, nests, cages, and compartments) and cover it inside and out with pitch (bitumen).
15And this is the way you are to make it: the length of the ark shall be 300 cubits, its breadth 50 cubits, and its height 30 cubits [that is, 450 ft. x 75 ft. x 45 ft.].
16You shall make a roof or window [a place for light] for the ark and finish it to a cubit [at least 18 inches] above–and the door of the ark you shall put in the side of it; and you shall make it with lower, second, and third stories.
In summary, God desires to speak to us just as clearly today as He did to Noah. He wants to do so in order to give us specific direction for our lives. Therefore, we need to make a quality decision today to tune our ears and spirits to hear and obey God’s voice. When we learn to recognize God’s voice and listen to His instruction, we can have peace and be free from confusion and frustration.
God Bless!
