Grieve And Sorrow Not
Many of us, even though we are born again believers, have seen grief and sorrow as such a natural part of life that we have not even questioned them. In fact, if we are honest, we would have to admit there are times when we actually want to feel sad and sorry for ourselves.
Why would we choose to feel grief and sorrow? It is because grief and sorrow have an emotional kick to them. They offer a surge of feeling that, in the beginning stages, is almost intoxicating.
However, grief and sorrow are dangerous things. Through reading and meditating on God’s Word, God showed me that these are not the innocent emotions we have thought they were. The forces behind these emotions are actually spiritual entities sent by the devil himself to kill, steal and destroy.
They are a part of the devastating, satanic barrage Jesus took on Himself when He died on the Cross (see Isaiah 53). He bore grief and sorrow, so we would not have to. If they come knocking on our doors, we must remember, they are not innocent emotions. They are deadly enemies that Jesus already carried away at Calvary.
In summary, we must not live as those who have no hope. We are born again believers. We know that Jesus Christ died for us and rose again. That not only gives us hope where physical death is concerned, it gives us hope in every situation. Therefore, grieve and sorrow not.
13Now also we would not have you ignorant, brethren, about those who fall asleep [in death], that you may not grieve [for them] as the rest do who have no hope [beyond the grave].
14For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will also bring with Him through Jesus those who have fallen asleep [in death].
24He personally bore our sins in His [own] body on the tree [as on an altar and offered Himself on it], that we might die (cease to exist) to sin and live to righteousness. By His wounds you have been healed.
God Bless!
