Happy Thanksgiving! Expect A Harvest!

feature photo

I would like to begin by wishing all of my fellow Americans a Happy Thanksgiving tomorrow. Regardless of our current circumstances, I genuinely believe all of us can think of someone or find something to thank God for.

At the very least, we can be thankful for the brave men and women of our Armed Forces that are scattered throughout the world protecting the God given freedoms we were blessed with by being fortunate enough to live in the United States of America.

That being said, I would now like to continue with a subject that I believe is directly related to Thanksgiving — sowing seed or giving and expecting a harvest.

Give and it shall be given unto you. That statement came straight from the mouth of Jesus.

Luke 6:38 (KJV)

38Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

Luke 6:38 (AMP)

38Give, and [gifts] will be given to you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, will they pour into [the pouch formed by] the bosom [of your robe and used as a bag]. For with the measure you deal out [with the measure you use when you confer benefits on others], it will be measured back to you.

However, there are a great many believers who flatly refuse to believe it. In fact, they actually have the mistaken idea that it is wrong to expect to receive when they give. The truth is, it is wrong not to!

Let me give you an example. What would all of us think about a farmer who planted seeds, then let his crop rot in the field? We would think he was a fool, would we not? What is more, if he did it when others were starving, we would unquestionably think he was criminally irresponsible.

Well, it is just as irresponsible to give financial seeds and ignore the harvest God promised, especially when that harvest could help send the good news of the Gospel to people who are starving to hear it. In other words, it is just as wrong to ignore the key to prosperity that Jesus Himself gave us as it is to let a wheat crop rot in the field.

God wants us to receive from the financial seeds that we plant. He wants us to be prepared to require no aid ourselves and be furnished in abundance for every good work and charitable donation. He wants us to have plenty, not so we can hoard it selfishly, but so we can give generously.

2 Corinthians 9:8 (AMP)

8And God is able to make all grace (every favor and earthly blessing) come to you in abundance, so that you may always and under all circumstances and whatever the need be self-sufficient [possessing enough to require no aid or support and furnished in abundance for every good work and charitable donation].

In summary, the next time we give, we should not be afraid to expect a harvest. We must release our faith for the financial rewards Jesus promised. Then, when they come, offer up thanksgiving to God and turn right around and plant them again. In turn, this will keep the flow of giving and receiving going so the Lord can bless the world through us.

God Bless!
