High Priest Of Our Confession
Very few believers today understand the mystery of the apostleship and priesthood of Jesus. We think that an apostle is some kind of super saint. However, “apostle” actually means “sent one.”
Therefore, Jesus has been sent from God to do something for us. He has been sent to serve as our High Priest.
Again, many believers do not have the first idea what a high priest does. They picture a person walking around in strange clothes performing religious rituals.
In reality, a high priest is much more than that. He is one who is authorized to administer, to execute, to implement and to carry into effect. Now, you may be wondering what it is that Jesus is authorized to administer, execute or carry out on our behalf.
The following passage says that Jesus is the High Priest of our confession. In other words, He has been sent to put into effect, execute and carry out the words that we say or confess.
1SO THEN, brethren, consecrated and set apart for God, who share in the heavenly calling, [thoughtfully and attentively] consider Jesus, the Apostle and High Priest Whom we confessed [as ours when we embraced the Christian faith].
That being said, we cannot go about speaking what we feel, instead of speaking words of faith. For example, if we are speaking sickness, what is Jesus going to do with that? He is not High Priest over sickness. He cannot execute that. If we are saying, “I am so weak, I am so tired,” He cannot carry that out.
The Bible says, “Let the weak say, I am strong!” The minute we say that, Jesus can administer strength.
Jesus is not going to administer sickness or disease or poverty or sin. He has defeated all that. He is High Priest over deliverance and righteousness and freedom.
In summary, we need to consider that Jesus is High Priest over deliverance and righteousness and freedom. Then as we come before Him, we must not speak words of defeat. Instead, we must speak words He can implement — words of victory. That is what He has been ordained by God to bring to pass in our lives.
God Bless!
