Live The Love Life
There is nothing, absolutely nothing, that is more important than learning to love. In fact, how accurately we perfect the love walk will determine how much of the perfect will of God we accomplish. That is because every other spiritual force derives its action from love.
5But he who keeps (treasures) His Word [who bears in mind His precepts, who observes His message in its entirety], truly in him has the love of and for God been perfected (completed, reached maturity). By this we may perceive (know, recognize, and be sure) that we are in Him:
6Whoever says he abides in Him ought [as a personal debt] to walk and conduct himself in the same way in which He walked and conducted Himself.
For example, the Bible teaches us that faith works by love. Moreover, answered prayer is almost an impossibility when a believer steps outside of love and refuses to forgive or is in strife with his brother.
What is more, without love, our giving will not work. Tongues and prophecy will not work. Faith fails and knowledge is unfruitful. All the truths that we have learned from God’s Word work by love. They will profit us nothing unless we live the love of God.
2And if I have prophetic powers (the gift of interpreting the divine will and purpose), and understand all the secret truths and mysteries and possess all knowledge, and if I have [sufficient] faith so that I can remove mountains, but have not love (God’s love in me) I am nothing (a useless nobody).
Love is a small, four letter word that illustrates exactly what God is and everything we, as Christians, should be and represent. The following passages from God’s Word paint a perfect picture of how love behaves.
4Love endures long and is patient and kind; love never is envious nor boils over with jealousy, is not boastful or vainglorious, does not display itself haughtily.
5It is not conceited (arrogant and inflated with pride); it is not rude (unmannerly) and does not act unbecomingly. Love (God’s love in us) does not insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is not self-seeking; it is not touchy or fretful or resentful; it takes no account of the evil done to it [it pays no attention to a suffered wrong].
6It does not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness, but rejoices when right and truth prevail.
7Love bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and it endures everything [without weakening].
8Love never fails [never fades out or becomes obsolete or comes to an end]. As for prophecy (the gift of interpreting the divine will and purpose), it will be fulfilled and pass away; as for tongues, they will be destroyed and cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away [it will lose its value and be superseded by truth].
Sounds like a tall order, does it not? However, do not despair because we are love creatures created in God’s own image. God has recreated our spirits in the image of love, and He has sent His love Spirit to live in us and teach us how to love as He loves. Meaning, we can live the love life, so why not begin today?
God Bless!
