Resurrection Power

feature photo

As born again Christians, we actually have residing in us the same new life God, through His power, gave Jesus when He raised Him from the dead. The old sinner we once were has died. We have become a new creation on the inside. Simply put, we are full of the resurrection power and life of God.

Romans 6:4 (AMP)

4We were buried therefore with Him by the baptism into death, so that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious [power] of the Father, so we too might [habitually] live and behave in newness of life.

2 Corinthians 5:17 (AMP)

17Therefore if any person is [ingrafted] in Christ (the Messiah) he is a new creation (a new creature altogether); the old [previous moral and spiritual condition] has passed away. Behold, the fresh and new has come!

However, sin (disobedience and living a selfish, carnal life) will keep that resurrection life from flowing out. Sin will separate us from the power of God, even though we are born again. Resurrection life will lay dormant in us if we walk in sin.

That being said, we cannot overcome sin by trying to stop sinning. We overcome it by walking after the new life God has put within us, and the best way to start is by spending time in the Word of God and in prayer. As we do that, the Spirit of God will strengthen and enable us to put sin under our feet.

We must remember though, the Holy Spirit will not subdue those old fleshly habits of ours on His own. He will wait on us to take the initiative. Then He will strengthen us to follow through with our decision, and teach us how to walk in the new life that is in us.

In closing, I would like to ask you to join me today by taking the first step and asking the Lord for His help. It is as simple as saying the following.

“Lord, I desire to experience the power to live by this new life every day. By a decision of my heart, I put down the dictates of sin. I declare myself dead to it. I will spend time in prayer and in the Word of God today. As I do, I believe I will receive a Holy Ghost refreshing in my life. I believe I will begin to live out the resurrection power that You have placed in me. In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen!”

God Bless!
