The Heart Of Jesus

feature photo

What if, for just one day, Jesus were to become you? For twenty-four hours, your boss becomes His boss, your mother becomes His mother? Nothing changes, everything stays the same, with one exception — for one day, you have the heart of Jesus.

What if, for twenty-four hours, your actions became His actions, your thoughts became His thoughts? What would be different? Would the people around you notice a difference? What would it be like?

All of us have probably heard someone use the phrase, “What Would Jesus Do?” Even so, how many people actually follow their own advice when saying this? How many let the heart of Jesus rule their lives as we are instructed to do in the Bible?

Philippians 2:5 (AMP)

5Let this same attitude and purpose and [humble] mind be in you which was in Christ Jesus: [Let Him be your example in humility:]

That being said, it is not surprising that people do not want anything to do with Christianity when they see on television or read about the scandals of the various churches and spiritual leaders. They do not see JESUS. They see HYPOCRITE.

As Christians, most of us have undoubtedly encountered others who have attacked us and our faith, and the natural response is to fight back. Nonetheless, we have to remember that Jesus voluntarily went to the Cross for this person as well. Therefore, the least we can do is remain seated and think before we speak or act.

We do not know what events have influenced these individuals’ opinions of religion. Many people only know what they have seen or read. What they need to see is the difference between religion, as defined in the world, and Christianity, as defined in God’s Word. Furthermore, what people need to see in this world is the Jesus in us. They need to see the hope and glory because a world without Jesus is a world without hope.

We need to remember that God wants each and every one of us to have a whole new heart — a heart like that of Jesus.

1 Thessalonians 3:12-13 (AMP)

12And may the Lord make you to increase and excel and overflow in love for one another and for all people, just as we also do for you,
13So that He may strengthen and confirm and establish your hearts faultlessly pure and unblamable in holiness in the sight of our God and Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah) with all His saints (the holy and glorified people of God)! Amen, (so be it)!

The beauty is, even without a new heart, God loves us anyway. However, He refuses to leave us that way. Our heart is no different from a broken leg, without Jesus in it, there is pain. So, as Christians, what is our role in this equation? Well, we do not call out to people to simply join a church because what they get there will be humanly and temporal. Instead, we let our lights shine and call out to people to become part of Jesus, and He will add them to His church.

John 12:32 (AMP)

32And I, if and when I am lifted up from the earth [on the cross], will draw and attract all men [Gentiles as well as Jews] to Myself.

To summarize, the heart of Jesus is pure and not affected by His environment. Therefore, we need to let the heart of Jesus live within us, and our hearts will live within Him. This, in turn, will lead people to see the Jesus in us and want to know what it is that makes us different and stand out from the crowd. At that point, we can freely tell them.

God Bless!
