The Key To Confidence

feature photo

We can never get away with disobeying God. Some people think they can. They think that if nobody finds out about it, it will not hurt anything. After all, God is merciful. He is not going to hold it against them, right? And if no one else knows… what is the difference?

What they fail to realize is that their own hearts will start giving them problems. Their own hearts will start to condemn them. Everyone else may think they are great. They may be spouting faith talk all over the place, but when they come before God in prayer they will be filled with doubts and fears that keep their prayers from being answered.

That is one of the reasons why it is so important to live in obedience to the Lord. A life of obedience will give us a spiritual boldness we have never had before. It will give us a boldness in prayer and in faith. It will give us a confidence toward God, as the Apostle John says, that those who are trying to get away with sin do not have.

1 John 3:21-22 (AMP)

21And, beloved, if our consciences (our hearts) do not accuse us [if they do not make us feel guilty and condemn us], we have confidence (complete assurance and boldness) before God,
22And we receive from Him whatever we ask, because we [watchfully] obey His orders [observe His suggestions and injunctions, follow His plan for us] and [habitually] practice what is pleasing to Him.

I am not saying that we have to be perfect, or we must never make a mistake. However, we should walk in obedience to the light we have. Take the time to listen and be responsive to the Spirit of God, and when He tells us to do something, do it.

As we do, that confidence will rise up within us. It will not be something we mentally drummed up or talked ourselves into. It will just be there. Instead of being consumed with doubts and feelings that the Word of God is not going to work for us, we will find ourselves filled with faith that it will. We will begin to trust God and to flow with Him. We will come to a place the Bible calls “rest in the Lord.”

In summary, even though the eternal price for our sins has been paid in full by the sacrifice and blood of Jesus, a life of disobedience will still cost us dearly. It will cost us the boldness that is rightfully ours in Jesus. It will rob us of faith and rock us with fear. Therefore, we cannot let the condemnation of our hearts cut our confidence short. Instead, we must do the things that are pleasing in God’s sight and walk tall in the kingdom of God.

God Bless!
