Weapon Of Praise

feature photo

As Christians, we must never underestimate the importance of praise. It is one of the most powerful spiritual weapons we have. Praise is more than a pleasant song or a few uplifting words about God. It does something. It releases the very presence of God Himself.

What does this mean? Since God is love, we know He would not inflict us with anything that is to our detriment.

1 John 4:16 (AMP)

16And we know (understand, recognize, are conscious of, by observation and by experience) and believe (adhere to and put faith in and rely on) the love God cherishes for us. God is love, and he who dwells and continues in love dwells and continues in God, and God dwells and continues in him.

Therefore, when the presence of God comes on the scene, our enemies are turned back. Our enemies are anything that is not of God. Sickness and disease cannot stay on our bodies. Poverty cannot stay in our houses. Even physical weariness has to flee when it is faced with genuine, joy-filled praise.

Psalm 9:1-3 (AMP)

1I WILL praise You, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will show forth (recount and tell aloud) all Your marvelous works and wonderful deeds!
2I will rejoice in You and be in high spirits; I will sing praise to Your name, O Most High!
3When my enemies turned back, they stumbled and perished before You.

I know that from experience. As I go about my daily routine, some days I have a real battle with fatigue due to many aspects associated with my spinal cord injury. There are times where I get almost too physically weak to function. Then, on one particular day, I discovered the power of praise. I had just finished with one of the more time consuming and difficult parts of my daily routine, and as usual, I was exhausted. However, instead of rest, the Spirit of the Lord impressed on me that what I needed was to rejoice in the Lord. So, I did. I began to praise the Lord with my whole heart, mind and body. Do you know what happened? The tiredness left me, and I was energized with the presence of God. That energy giving praise is now an important part of my entire day.

To summarize, anytime the devil tries to stifle our effectiveness, to drain us of the strength and wealth and victory that is ours in Jesus, we can turn him back with the powerful weapon of praise. We do so by simply lifting our hands, voice and whole heart to God. Praise the Lord!

God Bless!
